Nezha Hayat: Morocco’s Most Powerful Woman in Banking and Finance

Nezha Hayat is a highly respected figure in Morocco, serving as both the Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of Autorité Marocaine du Marché des Capitaux (AMMC), the country’s Capital Market Authority. Her appointment to this prestigious position came in February 2016, following the endorsement of His Majesty the King, Mohammed VI.

Nezha is a distinguished graduate of ESSEC Business School Paris, and her professional journey is marked by notable achievements. One such milestone was her groundbreaking role as the first woman to serve on a bank’s management board in Morocco, which she accomplished during her tenure at Société Générale Maroc.

Her contributions extend beyond national borders, as she was elected Vice-Chair of the Africa and Middle East Committee within the International Organization of Financial Market Regulators (IOSCO) for the 2016–2018 term. Her dedication and accomplishments have been recognized, and she was honored by His Majesty King Mohammed VI with the Officer of Wissam Al Arch (Order of the Throne) decoration.

On February 16, 2024, she was recognized on Forbes Middle East’s list of the Most Powerful Businesswomen for MENA in 2024.
