Mona Bahjat Al-Shawa serves as the Chief Executive Officer of First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) in Kuwait, bringing over 26 years of extensive banking and financial experience to her role. Throughout her distinguished career, Al-Shawa has held senior management and executive positions at leading local and foreign banks, including Burgan Bank, Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait, and BBK (Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait) – Kuwait Branch.
Al-Shawa has made significant contributions to the banking sector, particularly in corporate banking, where she has played a vital role in shaping business strategies and organizational development. Prior to joining FAB, she served as Acting Chief Executive Officer of BBK, demonstrating her capacity for strategic leadership and business growth.
Holding a degree in Commerce, Economics, and Political Science from Kuwait University, which she obtained with honors in 1985, Al-Shawa specialized in Accounting. Her commitment to professional development is evident through her numerous certifications from prestigious institutions, including Harvard University. She completed the Executive Leadership Program in 2011 and the Leadership Strategy in Financial Services Program in 2016, further enhancing her expertise in financial leadership.
