Nadereh Chamlou , an international development advisor and nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council ‘s empowerME initiative, has an extensive background in various roles at The World Bank spanning over 30 years. Her expertise lies in economic management, corporate governance, private sector development, financial markets, environment, infrastructure, and gender.
Chamlou has focused her work on promoting growth and competitiveness through the development of the private sector and entrepreneurship. She has co-authored influential reports, including the The World Bank‘s flagship report on corporate governance, which led to the establishment of the Global Corporate Governance Forum. She also served as the head of its Secretariat.
Chamlou has contributed to publications on gender and development in the hashtag#MENA region, women’s entrepreneurship, and women’s role in the workforce and welfare. She has held academic positions at New York University’s Wagner School for Public Policy and has been involved with various international organizations, such as the @iBridges initiative, Nyenrode Business University , The Netherlands, the Center for International Private Enterprise, and the International Iranian Economic Association.
She has also been actively engaged with organizations focusing on women’s empowerment, innovation, and entrepreneurship, including the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) , the Center for Arab Women’s Training and Research, and the Arab International Women’s Forum. Chamlou is a co-founder of @The Billion Dollar Fund for Women.
In addition to her research and publications, Chamlou frequently speaks at international conferences and provides commentary on topics related to the Middle East and women’s empowerment.
