Nevine Kashmiry has closed a nine-year chapter at The United Bank, where she rose to Deputy Managing Director, Chief Business Officer and Executive Board Member, to take up a new role as Independent Board Member across GB Capital and its affiliated non-banking financial institutions, part of Ghabbour Group. The appointment, which began in March 2026, marks a deliberate transition from operational banking leadership to strategic board governance, and it caps a career of more than 40 years spent building corporate and retail banking franchises across Egypt.
Kashmiry joined The United Bank in November 2016 and spent the following decade at the center of its transformation. She led restructuring and modernization efforts across the bank’s business lines, aligning them with international standards, and was instrumental in growing and diversifying its specialized banking sectors: large corporate banking, syndicated loans, SMEs, microfinance, Islamic finance, retail banking and branches, financial inclusion, sustainable finance, entrepreneurship, digital transformation, information security and electronic payment channels. As Deputy Managing Director, Chief Business Officer and Executive Board Member, she sat on the bank’s Executive Committee, Steering Committee, Senior Credit Committee, ALCO and Product Committee, and she represented the bank at conferences and forums on the future of banking and financial services across local and international platforms.
Her career before The United Bank spans some of Egypt’s most recognized financial institutions. She began at MI Bank in 1982 in the corporate banking group, later joining Piraeus Bank Egypt as Deputy Director before heading its corporate banking division, and went on to hold senior roles at EG Bank. Across these institutions, she built a track record in strategic planning, corporate relationship management, credit and risk oversight, and business development, working closely with major corporates, financial institutions and governmental entities while driving sustainable growth and shareholder value.
Kashmiry’s contributions have been recognized well beyond the institutions she served. She has been named among the Top 25 Most Influential Banking Figures in the MENA region and the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Egypt. She has also served as a board member at one of Egypt’s largest pharmaceutical companies and at one of the country’s most successful leasing, factoring and mortgage companies, giving her governance experience that extends well beyond banking itself.
Her move to GB Capital reflects a broader pattern among senior women in Arab banking: the shift from executive management into non-executive board roles, where decades of operational judgment translate into governance and oversight rather than day-to-day execution.
As an Independent Board Member, Kashmiry brings a rare combination of retail and corporate banking depth, restructuring experience, and cross-sector board exposure to Ghabbour Group’s non-banking financial institutions, at a moment when NBFIs across Egypt are expanding their role in the country’s credit and investment landscape.
