KUWAIT CITY – More than 100 women from a wide range of professional, academic, and entrepreneurial backgrounds came together on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Al Hamra Tower in Kuwait City for “She Network,” a new gathering organized by the Kuwaiti company SHE INVEST. The event was hosted by Al Hamra Real Estate Company, with Kuwait Telecommunications Company (stc) as digital sponsor. It is the first gathering of its kind aimed at building a genuine network of women in Kuwait.

A space women never had

The idea behind the gathering starts from a simple but powerful observation: what women in Kuwait lack is not competence, ambition, or education, but a space to connect, get to know one another, and build relationships. For generations, Kuwaiti men have had exactly that space in the diwaniya, a traditional social gathering deeply rooted in Kuwaiti culture, where men meet regularly in private homes. The diwaniya is where friendships are formed, experience is shared, ideas are debated, and, very often, professional and business opportunities are born. Women, despite their growing presence in the workforce and in decision-making roles, have long been without an equivalent.

SHE INVEST set out to offer that concept in a new form designed for women. Rather than calling it a “diwaniya,” the organizers chose the word “multaqa,” meaning a gathering or meeting place: an open space bringing together women from banking and finance, entrepreneurship, education, government, and independent professions, with the aim of closing the distance between them and opening doors to collaboration.

“The diwaniya has always been where relationships are built in Kuwait, and women deserve a space like that too. She Network isn’t just a meeting. It’s the beginning of a real network of women, where each one adds something to the other. Having more than 100 women attend our very first gathering shows the need was always there. We were simply waiting for this space.”

Closing the gap in boards and executive roles

Bin Hussain added that the gathering is a natural extension of the company’s mission to empower women financially and professionally. She noted that SHE INVEST’s own research on women’s representation on boards and in executive positions at listed companies in Kuwait reveals a clear gap, and that part of closing it starts with women building professional relationships and sharing experience with one another.

The evening had a lively, interactive atmosphere, as attendees moved between introductions and conversations, in a setting that blended professional networking with the warmth of Kuwaiti hospitality. Many participants praised the concept, saying the gathering gave them a rare opportunity to meet inspiring women outside their usual professional and social circles.

SHE INVEST thanked Al Hamra Real Estate Company for hosting the gathering and stc for its digital sponsorship, saying their support reflects the private sector’s belief in the role of women in Kuwait and the value of investing in community initiatives that strengthen women’s presence and influence.

A recurring date for women in Kuwait

“She Network” marks the first in a series of recurring gatherings the company plans to hold every one to two months, with the goal of making it a fixed date for women in Kuwait, where the network grows with every meeting.
